Tuesday, November 11th, 2008WHO: 2nd Platoon, Alpha Battery
WHAT: Humanitarian Aid Mission (School Drop)
WHEN: 21 SEP 2008
WHERE: 50 Dar North and 17 Bizna
Message: With school just beginning, and others getting ready to begin, 2nd PLT conducted a Joint-HA drop with 3rd BN IA and elements of the 5th ENGRs, Air Force, and 76th IBCT. The intent of the mission was to show the children of 50 Dar North and 17 Bizna that ISF and CF care about their well-being and their success in school. Schools supplies were handed out to over 100 children during the two drops.
Significance: The Iraqi Army element played a significant role in this mission, and were responsible for a majority of the interaction with the people. 1LT Ahmed gave a small speech at each of the drops. In the speech he touched on the importance of furthering one’s education, the treatment of others, and how the government and ISF care about the population of the Dujayl Qa’daa. The HA drop and messages were very well received by both the children and parents and should contribute to the Security Forces’ success in the future.
